“Attractive now is personality and trustfulness.”
‘I love seeing the world awaken to each new day. I don’t want to mIss any part of it,’ Marlene shares. Being eager for the sunrise is something she has experienced since her early days. The eldest of five girls, she closely assisted her father with daily chores on their family farm in Wisconsin. Her fondness of farm life has followed Marlene to Oregon, where she is currently living with her partner on 34 acres of forest land brimming with native plant life. Marlene delights in tending to her fresh vegetable garden. Marlene’s peace, fulfillment, and beauty in life comes from living in her oasis, and her love for her son and two grandchildren. She thrives in the presence of her grandchildren, and remembers her own sharp-as-a-tack grandmother who stayed vibrant until the age of 104.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018, Marlene made a life shift from 34 years of service in the field of Ultrasound at many local hospitals. Akin to the feeling of ‘how can Christmas be happening before Thanksgiving,’ life has sped up exponentially for her. With Marlene reflecting on being a PWP, she shines bright in helping others and being available for them including volunteering for the Parkinson’s Foundation in the Portland area as well as staying active at her gym. Being adventurous, Marlene ‘prepares for the future, but lives for today,’ as she has already sailed the Caribbean, living off of only what she brought. Marlene yearns to continue traveling the world, intrigued with how others live and spend their sunrise.
