“I have never really been concerned with being attractive. I like to look nice, but not worry about being attractive. I just want to be me and dress comfortably. I guess what is attractive to me is being happy, being physically in shape, and in good health.”
As a self-described serious and in-control person, Marie exclaimed how free, relaxed, and beautiful she felt while experiencing so much fun during her photoshoot with Rachel, in what she describes as ‘an experience of a lifetime.’ She has never felt so special, swirling and posing in dressy clothes and having her make-up done for her professionally, a first in her life. Having her younger sister, Anastasia, present during the photoshoot made the experience even more of a beautiful experience and treasure for her. While Marie felt fancy free during this photoshoot, typically, she is rarely whimsical, leaving that magic to the love of her life, Bill, her husband of 42 years, who makes their life interesting and fun, for a well-balanced marriage. Even though she views herself as serious, Marie also sees the loving, friendly, and dependable side of what makes her Marie. Donating her time to charities and activities, she loves to care for others, especially family and friends.
‘Life is a journey and I need to enjoy it along the way. Many are not blessed to have a long life to enjoy!’ These are pieces of wisdom she would pass along to her 20 something self, as Marie is a survivor of breast cancer. A significant achievement in Marie’s life has been completing the Susan G. Komen 60 mile, 3-day Breast Cancer walk with her sister, eldest niece, best friend, sister’s best friend, as well as her close friends. Being retired, Marie is now able to unwind and savor more of what life has to offer, more time for her needlework, quilting and working in the yard. She is investing in herself by getting back into the love she has with exercising. To Marie, being attractive is possessing happiness, being in shape physically, and the wealth of good health.
